Epic Community IT Center launched |
| Epic Lanka showing its dedication and commitment towards the society implemented a fully pledged IT training center for the benefit of youth and adults in the outskirts of Colombo. This training center located at the Buddhist temple in Yabaraluwa, Malwana is primarily dedicated to train children in the orphanage of the temple and also accommodates hundreds of school children, youth and adults in the locality. |
| The Community IT Center accommodates anybody who is willing to receive basic to advance IT training and the services are offered free of charge. Epic Lanka has employed experienced trainers to train the students and adults who will join the center to learn IT. |
| Speaking at the inauguration on July 22, 2010 Nayana Dehigama, Chairman/Managing Director of Epic Lanka said that the Community IT Center of Epic Lanka will contribute to reduce the digital divide in the country and the aggregate result of this type of CSR events of corporate firms can make a big difference. |
| The Chief Incumbent of the temple Ven Beligala Amarasiri Thero expressed his thanks and gratitude to Epic Lanka for donating the fully pledged IT Center and managing same. As the children attached to the orphanage are from less privileged areas in Eastern province formerly described as border villages, this IT Center will help them in a great way to acquire the most essential ICT skills to join the society in future, the thero said. |
